A Yale University professor really likes her former employer’s plan to raise the child tax credit – a proposal JD Vance supports.
“The vice president has pretty clearly articulated an economic vision that is very much rooted in her life experience,” law school Professor Natasha Sarin told the student newspaper.
Sarin (pictured) is a former deputy assistant secretary in the Biden Treasury Department, as the Yale Daily News noted. She worked on economic policy issues.
“Sarin noted that Harris grew up the child of immigrants, and she said this led to Harris knowing what it’s like to experience the desire for upward economic mobility in a country that so often has tried to block such mobility for people like her,” the student newspaper reported the professor saying about her former boss. (The vice president’s reference to her economic background is a meme).
Vance grew up in poverty – there is both a book and a movie called “Hillbilly Elegy” about it. Vance’s mom was addicted to drugs and he was raised by his grandma. Harris’s mom was an accomplished medical researcher and her dad was a Stanford professor. Both parents have doctorates. […]
