With the punishment up to and including closing those accounts if the owner strays from what the government approves.
Such as shopping at specific retailers, or making cash deposits just under $10,000.
The institute explained, “Most Americans have no idea their financial accounts are being monitored. And that’s by design. The same federal law that mandates this surveillance also prohibits banks from telling customers about these reports.”
That means the first indication that a consumer may have about a government bureaucrat’s issue with their activity is when their accounts are closed.
The institute explained Bryan Delaney, a bar owner in New York City, learned the hard way in 2023 when his corporate and personal accounts were shut down.
It seems he offended Deep State members by often depositing cash amounts under $10,000 from his bar business.
The feds demand that such deposits over $10,000 are reported, and those under $10,000 are documented “because they do not trigger” that requirement.
“Bryan wasn’t trying to avoid any $10,000 reporting requirement; his bar’s revenue simply happened to fall below that threshold,” the institute reported.
Other suspicious activities include regular cash deposits or withdrawals, overseas transfers, donations to “controversial” groups, purchases at gun shops or shopping at Dick’s Sporting Goods or Cabela’s.
The Institute explained, “This is called ‘de-banking,’ and it’s far more common than you might think. Thousands of Americans have had their accounts closed with little warning or explanation.”
It’s all because of a federal law that imposes demands on bank to monitor accounts.
Actually, the institute said, “Federal law provides that any transaction can be ‘suspicious’ if the ‘bank knows of no reasonable explanation for the transaction.’
“In other words, ordinary financial activities are presumed guilty until proven innocent.”
And it gets worse, the IJ explained: “These surveillance laws more broadly harm Americans by creating a vast database of financial information that is susceptible to abuse by bad actors both within and outside government.”
That’s because federal, state and local – even foreign – agencies are given access to the reports without any warrant.
The IJ is fighting the schemes.
“The Fourth Amendment guarantees our right to be ‘secure’ in our ‘persons, houses, papers, and effects.’ That protection for ‘papers’ should, on its face, extend to the kind of sensitive financial information held by banks,” the organization explained.

]]>While this homeowner may have been someone who was mentally challenged or easily manipulated, something very similar to this is happening across Europe today. Citizens born in European nations, having the right to travel wherever they wish within their own country absent government restrictions, are being illegally banned by Muslim residents from exercising that right. These Muslims have established “no-go zones” where non-Muslims are denied entry. Fearing attacks, even local police will not venture into these zones where, as a result, Shariah law then becomes the law of the land.
A no-go zone is simply an area where its residents are of a sufficient number to exercise control over it and prevent any outsiders from entry. As democratic nations have paid little attention to the establishment of such zones, particularly in Europe, hundreds of Muslim zones have been established there. In fact, the Migration Research Institute in Budapest has estimated there are at least 900 such uncontrolled zones throughout Europe.
German Police Union Chairman Rainer Wendt reports, “There are neighborhoods where colleagues can barely stop a car (as) they will be surrounded by 40 or 50 men.” He added, “We are facing a challenge that is unprecedented in post-war history” – one for which the risk of collapse is “very real” as police are losing control of the situation.
Wendt warns, “Radical Islamists are questioning the power on our streets. If no action is taken, Shariah law will prevail instead of the constitution. It is time to return to the fundamental values of our societies. Otherwise, the country will collapse and the law of the strongest will prevail.”
Yet, at a time this threat is growing in Europe and Muslims exercise less tolerance of non-Muslims, non-Muslims are being repressed from criticizing Muslims demonstrating such aggression. Ridiculously, reasonable comments about what is evolving among these Muslim communities are being investigated by police as “hate speech” despite undermining free speech.
Western tolerance of Muslim cultures establishing themselves within Western nations, to the detriment of host-nation residents, is being stretched to an absurd point. By virtue of increasing numbers, these cultures are allowed to become legally intolerant of the tolerant hosts who invited them in. In doing so, Europe is witnessing and participating in a process by which an increasing Muslim populations, compared to a stagnant native European one, will result in a situation in which the body of the host nation gradually transitions into the body of the Muslim invitee.
European tolerance for further welcoming all that is Islamic despite not being healthy for the West is the appearance of financial services companies now promoting Shariah-compliant finance-opportunity ads with problematic links to Islamist extremists. Pushing for Shariah-financing only creates another divisive route by which Muslim influence gets its nose under the financial tent in dictating its own rules of the road concerning investments. The ads even depict the act of burning currency in a show of opposition to Western banking and promote as well the joining of a “money revolution” to oppose the charging of interest.
When Europe’s no-go zones first became a topic of discussion several years ago in the U.S., such talk was dismissed by liberals as simply manifesting false conservative conspiracy claims. While to date the U.S. appears to have avoided the establishment of such active zones, liberals need to take a much closer look at what is now plaguing Europe. Nations there are silently surrendering chunks of their territory to Muslim communities allowed to establish no-go zones with no fear of doing so. It will not take long for the idea to take root in the U.S. as well.
For centuries, the term “the sick man of Europe” has been a label applied by others on that continent to identify a major member in decline, whether due to experiencing economic hardship, social unrest, or impoverishment. Today, as no-go zones are allowed to pop up across Europe, the continent seems unable to collectively diagnose it is a sick man.

]]>Kevin Laskowski, of Falls Church, Virginia, who is priest-in-charge at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Centreville, Virginia, was among the contestants dealing with the category “Quoting the King James Bible.”
To his credit, Laskowski was able to answer “And the light shineth in” this, which “comprehended it not.”
“What is the darkness?” he correctly responded.
Another clue stated: “The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green” these.
“What is green pastures?” he answered rightly.
But then came a pair of clues to which the reverend was completely silent.
“Why beholdest thou” this 4-letter thing “that is in thy brother’s eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?”
The correct response to the triple-stumper was “the mote.”
And the final, $1,000 clue also left all three contestants unable to voice anything.
“And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils” this phrase.
The correct response is “the breath of life.”
The initial biblical clue stated: “Exodus 20:8 commands, ‘Remember’ this day ‘to keep it holy.’”
It was answered correctly with “the Sabbath;” not by the priest, but by challenger Julia Schan, a stay-at-home mom from Pleasanton, California.
Laskowski was able to answer the alcohol-related Final Jeopardy clue: “Its 15 official state songs include 2 that mention moonshine & 3 played in 3/4 time.”
He correctly responded to win the game: “What is Tennessee?”
Some comments posted online about the priest’s performance include:
“Imagine being an Episcopalian priest and not be able to answer these clues about the Bible. Neither did the other 2 contestants. Fun times.”
“I always chuckle a little when there’s a clergyman on Jeopardy! who doesn’t know bible clues.”
“The Episcopalian priest on Jeopardy only getting two answers correct in the Bible category [bleeping] rules.”
“The priest knew hip hop lyrics yesterday and missed Bible quotes today?? Is he cosplaying us?”
“So the Episcopal priest could barely handle the Bible category? That tracks about right. Catholics and Episcopalians don’t read nor teach the Bible.
“If you wear your clerical collar to be a Jeopardy contestant, you best show up in the ‘Quoting the King James Bible’ category.”

]]>The news report from Joe Kovacs at WND is below, but I wanted to state up front that this is the way. There will be fiscal conservatives who denounce the plan because of tariffs. I’m not a fan of tariffs as a general practice, either, but we cannot bear the full burden of stopping our border invasion. Doing so would be foolish and the easiest way to “encourage” cooperation with other countries is to give them incentives. In this case, the motivator will be steep tariffs and by golly it’s going to work. Here’s the news…
President-elect Donald Trump announced Monday evening one of the first major actions he will take on his first day in office: “Charge Mexico and Canada a 25% Tariff on ALL products coming into the United States” due to their “ridiculous Open Borders.”
“As everyone is aware, thousands of people are pouring through Mexico and Canada, bringing Crime and Drugs at levels never seen before,” Trump said on Truth Social.
“Right now a Caravan coming from Mexico, composed of thousands of people, seems to be unstoppable in its quest to come through our currently Open Border. On January 20th, as one of my many first Executive Orders, I will sign all necessary documents to charge Mexico and Canada a 25% Tariff on ALL products coming into the United States, and its ridiculous Open Borders.
“This Tariff will remain in effect until such time as Drugs, in particular Fentanyl, and all Illegal Aliens stop this Invasion of our Country!
“Both Mexico and Canada have the absolute right and power to easily solve this long simmering problem. We hereby demand that they use this power, and until such time that they do, it is time for them to pay a very big price!”
Trump did not limit his attention to Mexico and Canada, but turned his concern to China.
“I have had many talks with China about the massive amounts of drugs, in particular Fentanyl, being sent into the United States – But to no avail,” he explained.
“Representatives of China told me that they would institute their maximum penalty, that of death, for any drug dealers caught doing this but, unfortunately, they never followed through, and drugs are pouring into our Country, mostly through Mexico, at levels never seen before.
“Until such time as they stop, we will be charging China an additional 10% Tariff, above any additional Tariffs, on all of their many products coming into the United States of America.
“Thank you for your attention to this matter.”

]]>The win wasn’t a landslide, but it felt like one because of the towering tsunami of garbage the media and the Democrats and their prosecutors threw at Trump. They could not believe that all this lawfare and relentlessly negative publicity would create a backlash. They saw this pattern in the Republican primary – and yet they couldn’t accept the pattern would repeat itself in the general.
They knew that the Biden-Harris approval ratings were abysmal, and that the top issues, like inflation and illegal immigration, were dragging them down. But they loathe Trump so much they could not imagine he could win again – and win much more convincingly than in 2016.
So then the media had to think about the unthinkable: Doesn’t anyone care about our “news” anymore? How could our relentless anti-Trump messaging fail to land? They had to ponder whether podcasters like Joe Rogan were the wave of the future in influencing voters. They had to moan and whine that “misinformation” spread by Elon Musk’s X ruined all their objectives.
Axios.com wailed that “the big media era is over.” The young people aren’t following along. Smart sources said that “reaching people ages 35 and under with any message – or even major event – is almost impossible. Or they’ve seen an eight-second clip with no context, so they have a very different understanding of what happened than someone who saw a mainstream report.”
These “cord-cutters” aren’t imbibing the conventional wisdom. They’re in “fractured communities” on the internet. Point and laugh that these people eternally see themselves as the “mainstream,” no matter how the people vote.
We can say with confidence that the big media don’t have the same grip on public opinion that they have long imagined. When only 31% of respondents told Gallup they have a “great deal” or a “fair amount” of trust in the press, it became clear most Americans are looking elsewhere for information. No wonder Democrat-enabling journalists worry about “misinformation,” which they define as “information that doesn’t agree with our hot takes.”
But when politicians assemble in public, it’s possible they will still feel the pull of the leftist press as the most powerful players, even if the polls don’t match it. Old assumptions die hard in national politics. It would be encouraging for Trump and the Republicans to make sure that conservative journalists, radio hosts and podcasters are provided with lots of access and make the liberal journalists have to listen to conservatives. Because they tend to be incurious and intolerant of opposing views.
Finally, conservatives should enjoy how the liberals said this whole election was about “saving democracy,” and then a majority voted for Trump and GOP control of Congress. Democracy hasn’t died in darkness. The majority of people who cited “democracy” as an issue voted for Trump.
This is because the Left cannot concede that they were the ones trying to suppress the speech of their opponents, and they were the ones that were putting their opponents in jail. They were the ones raiding the home of the opposing former president with guns drawn. So, who ended up looking “authoritarian” in the end?
Democracy means the Left gets to be ridiculed and rejected, and it’s only just begun.
]]>“Right now is, I think in my opinion, the most dangerous time, the sort of lame duck period where the president is not acting in the capability that needs to defend this nation,” Patel told Maria Bartiromo on “Sunday Morning Futures” on the Fox News Channel.
“And what we need to do is have our leaders of the agencies and departments that were confirmed by the Senate show up and do their job and tell the Senate and the House of Representatives these are our failures, these are our weaknesses, we need help, we need you to respond the in this time of need. And those guys not showing up to the Hill and just deflecting their responsibility shows us how much more danger we’re in,” he continued.
“We know what President Trump’s gonna do, but he’s 54 days away from taking the oath of office. Right now, we need the United States of America to remind those agencies and department leaders that they work for us, and the mandate that President Trump was given was to protect our borders, to make sure CCP fentanyl doesn’t kill our children, to the end the forever wars, to return our hostages, and make sure American global diplomacy is in great hands when President Trump is sent to the to Oval Office on January 20th. And we must respect the will and power of Congress, I cannot stress that enough.
“The constitutional oversight responsibilities of the United States House of Representatives and the Senate has been lost by the leaders of the Deep State in Washington, D.C., and I think President Trump is going to restore that with his selections and his nominees.”

Bartiromo noted, “Unfortunately, the public has also lost trust in a number of these agencies.”
She then asked Patel how he believes Americans “will regain trust in our most important law-enforcement agencies?”
“With one thing: exposure of corruption,” Patel replied. “Put out the documents, put out the evidence. We only have gotten half way down the Russiagate hole. The people need to know their FBI is restored by knowing full well what they did to unlawfully surveil them.
“The people need to know there’s been a deweaponization, a defanging of the Department of Justice and their houses of worship will no longer be raided, but they need to be shown the documents that said this was the reasoning they weaponized justice.

“And that, in my opinion, is how Congress can most importantly secure the trust or resecure the trust of these agencies and departments. President Trump is taking a huge first step with his monumental victory.
“Now it’s up to Congress and the Senate to work with his leaders at DOJ and FBI to put out those documents, and I think DOGE goes a long way in that. But we’re going to need Cabinet secretaries who say we don’t fear the corruption that preceded us. It will make us powerful if we expose it to the American public.”

]]>Trump’s win means he gets the chance to roll back socialism and restore constitutionalism against their will on the domestic front while pursuing their common priority internationally. This was the same general trade-off Reagan had, but, importantly, Trump’s agenda adds the component of anti-“one world” globalism. In this context, Trump’s “nationalism” might better be termed “international federalism” because it clearly presumes an international order in which nations remain cooperating independent sovereigns and not mere components of single global Marxist conglomerate like the neo-Soviet European Union strives to be.
They surrendered to Trump not just because he beat them politically, but because Vladimir Putin beat them militarily in Ukraine. When their military failure became so obvious in 2023 that they could no longer contain the situation with war propaganda, they fell back to Plan B: the much riskier Israel/Hamas gambit, which is mostly limited to the Iran problem and related Middle East objectives. I have contended since it happened that the all-too-real Oct. 7, 2023, massacre was allowed to happen for that purpose. I believe they let slip the rabid dogs of Hamas deliberately to shift the “Eye of Sauron” media focus away from Ukraine (which I disapprove), and create the justification for de-nuking Iran (which goal I endorse, if not the duplicitous staging.)
Are the elites truly that evil? Ask the hundred million plus innocent unborn babies they’ve slaughtered worldwide (including in Israel) by normalizing abortion as a population-reduction tactic. Or maybe we should ask the entire generation of dead and maimed Ukrainian men sacrificed as cannon fodder proxies in a 100% preventable NATO- orchestrated war.
Let’s review what’s really happening in the world of geopolitics – as seen from outside the bubble of neocon propaganda constantly being spewed by the corporate media of the U.S., U.K. and European Union.
Massive corruption and abuse of power by the Bush/Clinton/Obama/Biden tag-team cabal over the past several decades has bankrupted America, poisoned much of the world against us and driven a growing alliance of would-be competitors to formalize and implement a plan to end our global hegemony. The greatest threat their BRICS network represents is to the U.S. dollar’s dominance as the world’s reserve currency. If BRICS develops a way to dethrone the dollar, we will (supposedly) collapse like a house of cards under an avalanche of debt we have no ability to pay – some $36 trillion worth – or higher by some accounts. Our fall would be swift and spectacular – creating a political vacuum into which the BRICS nations would flow to replace us with their vision of a new multi-polar order.
Obviously, that existential threat has – in the warped minds of the elite megalomaniacs who rule us – warranted extreme measures, which included the anti-Trump color revolution and coup of 2020, facilitated by the global deployment of their COVID bio-weapon and imposition of de facto medical martial law. In one fell swoop they intended to crush the rapidly growing worldwide populist uprising that threatened their grip on the levers of national and international power AND at the same time intimidate the BRICS nations into submission in classic Mafia style.
To invoke the old Chinese idiom, they intended to “kill the chicken to scare the monkey.” But to their shock, the populist chicken (led by the MAGA movement in the U.S.) didn’t die. Instead it got stronger and began pushing back even harder, not just against the fake vaccine but also against government-coerced censorship, manipulative fake-news narratives, forced DEI lunacy and child-grooming … and the proxy war in Ukraine. That was only possible because MAGA’s champion, Donald Trump, did not retreat after J6 but redoubled his efforts.
So now we’ve all been rewarded with front-row seats to the greatest show on earth as a greatly wiser and fully unshackled President-elect Trump begins the process of draining the swamp and restoring America’s greatness – not just domestically, but internationally.
I think President Trump can prevent World War III during his delayed second term by doing three things:
First, by embracing some form of the BRICS multi-polar vision on the condition that the dollar remains the sole world currency for international trade. This would further his goal of withdrawing the United States from the roles of international policeman, babysitter and financial sugar-daddy, while earning the appreciation and respect of those BRICS nations being entrusted as true partners in international matters, no longer treated as mere vassals of the U.S. This would mean ending the top-down divide-and-conquer polarization model for international relations established long ago by the British Empire and replacing it with the model of international federalism mentioned above.
Second, by developing a partnership with Putin and Russia based upon our mutual Christian history and cultural foundations to 1) fully drain the swamp of Marxism globally, starting with the European Union; and 2) constrain Islamist expansion everywhere, starting with Islamist-targeted Christian nations like Nigeria. In my view the only reason Russia is militarily allied with Shiite Iran is to counter the U.S. alliance with the Sunni majority headed by Saudi Arabia. A U.S./Russia alliance on Islam and Middle East policy would completely transform the geopolitical dynamics, provide the opportunity to compel Iran to de-nuke without resort to military force, and protect Israel from destruction by the Islamic world by removing Russia’s incentive to ally with Israel’s enemies as a tactic of self-defense. Russia instead would be an ally of Israel, which I believe Putin would prefer.
Three, the lynchpin making the prior elements possible would be NATO and the Russian Federation entering into a mutual non-expansion agreement. What’s really driving all these currently failing international policies is the Mackinder theory of geopolitics held forever by the British (and by extension the Americans) that if Russia gains control of the Eurasian plateau it would become an unstoppable world power. If Russia formally abandoned any dream of a restored Soviet Union (which I don’t think it wants) and NATO ended its encroachment/encirclement strategy for containing Russia, then the threat of WWIII would fade dramatically.
All this, of course, assumes that the elites won’t start WWIII before Trump’s inauguration. I’ll address that issue in my next column.
]]>According to Reuters, an anonymous senior Asian diplomat told the news outlet there has been some “trepidation” within the 193-member international organization, founded in 1945 in the wake of World War II.
“There is also some hope that a transactional administration will engage the U.N. on some areas even if it were to defund some dossiers. After all, what bigger and better global stage is there than the United Nations?” the anonymous source told Reuters.
The report goes on to note an absence of the U.S. from the U.N. could pave the way for China to have even more influence in global politics. Another top concern is funding may be dramatically cut once Trump takes office again.
In 2018, during Trump’s first term, his administration choked off over $25 million in funding to the U.N, including more than $7 million to cover costs for the U.N. Human Right Council.
U.N. Secretary General Antonio Guterres said in a statement Wednesday he was ready to work with the incoming administration, and congratulated Trump on his win, according to Barron’s.
“Cooperation between the United States and the United Nations is an essential pillar of international relations. … The United Nations stands ready to work constructively with the incoming administration to address the dramatic challenges our world is facing,” Guterres said.
According to Fox News, American taxpayers pay at least one-third of the U.N.’s yearly budget, increasing under President Joe Biden from $11.6 billion in 2020, to $18.1 billion in 2022. The U.S. pays three times as much as Germany, who pays around $6.8 billion a year, while Japan contributes $2.7 billion.
Hugh Dugan, a member of the U.S. delegation to the U.N., told Fox News the U.N. will have to undergo a recalibration, because they haven’t had to be as concerned about accountability during the Biden administration years. Adding to the U.N.’s worries is Trump’s veto power over its next secretary general candidate, with the election being held in 2026.
“They will have to recalibrate now very much again in the Trump administration that will, I believe, be much more attentive, engaged and monitoring of the U.N. … There are teams there that have been sleepwalking the last few years without U.S. pressure on accountability, efficiency and effectiveness,” Dugan said.
Further to that, other Globalist organizations and figureheads, like World Economic Forum’s Yuval Harari, have voiced concerns over a Trump victory. Harari said during an interview with the Global Economic Forum a day before the 2024 presidential election, that a win for Trump would be a “death blow” to the new global order.
“If it happens, it is likely to be the kind of… death blow, to what remains of the global order,” Harari said, adding Trump has often openly said he wants nationalism over globalism.
“Many of these politicians; they present a false dichotomy, a false binary vision of the world, as if you have to choose between patriotism and globalism, between being loyal to your nation, and being loyal to some kind of, I don’t know, global government.”
“If Trump becomes President again in 2024 … it will be the final death blow…to what remains of the global order.” – Yuval Harari
It sounds like the global order is afraid of what Trump is capable of. The question is, why?

According to a report from the Wall Street Journal, allied capitals are concerned after Trump made it clear he would not be providing any protection to any delinquent members of NATO.
Because European members have done little to expand their own defense, they are highly dependent on American taxpayer dollars for protection. Bruno Tertrais, deputy director of the Foundation for Strategic Research, a think tank for the French government, told WSJ NATO could end up paralyzed without Trump.
“If this is not the jolt that Europe needed to get its act together, I don’t know what could be one. Absent U.S. leadership, NATO could be paralyzed,” Tertrais said.

]]>From the minute he bought Twitter in 2022, the leftists who aspire to complete messaging control were furious. They knew their 2020 jig was up, that they couldn’t just suppress damaging stories like the Hunter Biden laptop. Reporters like Cleve Wootson of The Washington Post complained in the White House briefing that “misinformation on Twitter is not just a campaign issue … it’s an America issue.” Post columnists call it a “mind-polluting app.”
Suddenly, “independent” agencies in the Biden administration unleashed their probes: the Justice Department, the Federal Trade Commission, the Securities and Exchange Commission. Government was weaponized against Musk.
After the Democrats installed Kamala Harris, Musk became an explicit Trump supporter and super-PAC funder. Now the press warns he’ll have a massive conflict of interest if he’s brought on by President Trump as a “government efficiency czar.” He has many millions of dollars in government contracts.
Musk’s publicity stunt of handing over $1 million a day to Americans who signed his petition in favor of the First and Second Amendments drew all kinds of negative attacks from the press. On Oct. 21, “CBS Mornings” brought on their elections expert David Becker, who lusted openly about sending Musk to jail for five years for bribing voters.
On the last Saturday before the election, NBC News was warning that “at least nine of the 15 winners” of the big checks were either “registered Republicans” or “Republican-leaning.” Is that really a surprise or a scandal, conservatives backing the constitutional amendments?
Then on the night before Election Day, MSNBC star Rachel Maddow went on a wild rant about how the federal government will have to shed all ties to Musk, everywhere. They are an “untenable” reality for national security.
The meltdown intensified as the votes piled up for Trump after the polls closed. CBS host Margaret Brennan railed at 1:30 a.m. that Senate Intelligence Committee Chairman Mark Warner, D-Va., warned, “no single person is more beholden to the Chinese Communist Party. Because of the business interests he has in that country.”
Hunter Biden’s thicket of business interests in China were never interesting to CBS and the Democrats. But now that Musk is helping Trump? Look out!
Warner and the Democrats are upset that the social media atmosphere isn’t censoring conservative “misinformation” enough. It’s not just X but Facebook, Instagram and YouTube. Musk made censorship uncool.
Journalists like Brennan complain about Musk spreading misinformation willy-nilly and then insist, “The facts were in Joe Biden’s favor on the economy. The facts were in Kamala Harris’ favor on the economy.” Liberals have this funny habit of declaring their opinions are facts. Therefore, dissenting opinions are “misinformation.”
Liberals and conservatives alike feel that Elon Musk’s billions have transformed the “information space.” He made it … more spacious. Our media elites want everyone to have a very limited diet under their control. In their strange minds, losing control of the narrative is equated with the loss of democracy.
This is why Musk is their Public Enemy No. 1. This is why conservatives should be emboldened to push the information the leftists want squashed. The election demonstrated that a more liberated marketplace of news and ideas is what made democracy great again.
]]>Of course, in the political verbiage of the 21st century, the session will “protect California values” such as “fundamental civil rights, reproductive freedom, climate action, immigrant families and more.”
These things, the governor declared, are threatened by the election of Donald Trump.
The first step of this special legislative session will be to “shore up California’s defenses against an incoming federal administration that has threatened the state on multiple fronts.”
Apparently, he has in mind secession from the union. But first, some more rhetoric:
“The freedoms we hold dear in California are under attack – and we won’t sit idle.” And then Newsom borrows from Winston Churchill: “California have faced this challenge before and we know how to respond. We are prepared to fight in the courts, and we will do everything necessary to ensure Californians have the support and the resources they need to thrive.”
He does not mention what constituted the previous challenge, or how a vote of the American people threatens residents of California, but he involved California’s attorney general, who declares, “No matter what the incoming administration has in store, California will keep moving forward.”
The governor’s handout also involves Assembly Speaker Robert Rivas, quoted as saying, “I’m ready to fight harder than ever for opportunity, equality and a Golden State that works for each and every resident.” Completing the great wall of California is a similar endorsement from State Senate President Mike McGuire with a declaration that “We learned a lot about former President Trump in his first term – he’s petty, vindictive and will do what it takes to get his way no matter how dangerous the policy may be. California has come too far and accomplished too much to simply surrender and accept his dystopian vision for America.”
So much danger and so little time.
The first duty of this special legislative session is to issue public statements. What President Trump says will be refuted. The special session will focus on women’s rights and LGBTQ+ rights. The special session will appropriate more money to the attorney general to file litigation against the Trump administration.
Once would surmise from Newsom’s press release that he already has rescued California from the dark ages: “Since 2019 Governor Newsom and the California Legislature have defended progress, expanded civil rights, and protected California values.” One wonders how the Golden State survived from the gold rush days of 1849 to the coming of Gavin.
His bragging points to sustain his modest appraisal of his accomplishments then cite 25 legislative bills and $200 million consumed to “protect reproductive rights” and $45 billion spent on climate change energy policy. That is, by the way, a gross understatement of the state’s climate expenditures.
With the change in administration coming in Washington, D.C., Newsom suddenly has discovered states’ rights, so much so he is one step away from secession. In fact the similarities are so strong, Newsom studiously avoided the race issue in this media blitz.
The announcement had to be covered by local media, and so Newsom was able to campaign against Donald Trump even before Trump assumed office. Setting aside the issues Newsom raised, the Democrat Party is not going to consider any policy changes or moderations. They are right on all issues. The Republicans are not only wrong, they are repugnant, and the voters, well, they screwed up, partly because freedom of speech was not corrected by the managers of “mis” and “dis” information.
