Just under 75% of the US population receives a fluoridated water supply at a targeted concentration of 0.7 milligrams per liter.

The new research, published in JAMA Network Open, found that this targeted concentration is enough to increase the risk of neurobehavioral issues in children at age three, and that a 0.68 milligram per liter increase in fluoride exposure could double the risk of a child displaying such issues.

Animal studies have consistently shown that high levels of fluoride exposure cause serious changes to neurobiochemical changes, and that fluoride can cross the placental barrier between a mother and her child.

But recent human studies from Mexico and Canada have suggested that even low levels of exposure during pregnancy could be linked to lower IQ, reduced cognitive function and increased symptoms of ADHD.

The new study took 229 mother-child pairs from the Maternal and Developmental Risks from Environmental and Social Stressors (MADRES) cohort, which consists of mainly Hispanic women living in urban Los Angeles, California. The participants were recruited during prenatal care visits between 2015 and 2020.

The researchers took single spot urine samples from the mothers during their third trimester of pregnancy (weeks 29 to 40). The samples were analyzed for urinary fluoride levels, as an index of total fluoride intake. The median urinary fluoride concentration among the mothers was 0.76 milligrams per liter.

When the children reached the age of three years, their mothers completed the Preschool Child Behavior Checklist (CBCL), a commonly used measure of children’s cognitive development and behaviour. The CBCL includes 99 items that assess a range of behavioral and emotional problems, from depression and withdrawal to attention problems and aggression, and diagnosable conditions like ADHD and autism-spectrum disorders.

A key finding of the study was that a 0.68 milligram per liter increase in maternal urinary fluoride levels during pregnancy was associated with nearly double the odds of the child scoring in the borderline clinical or clinical range for total neurobehavioral problems.

As well as being associated with an overall increase in the risk of neurobehavioral problems, higher fluoride exposure was also associated with specific issues. A 0.68 milligram per liter increase was associated with a 13.54% increase in scores for emotionally reactive behaviors, for example, and a 19.60% increase in somatic complaints.

There was also an 11.29% increase in anxiety problems and an 18.53% increase in autism-spectrum problems.

“Women with higher fluoride exposure levels in their bodies during pregnancy tended to rate their 3-year-old children higher on overall neurobehavioral problems and internalizing symptoms, including emotional reactivity, anxiety and somatic complaints,” said Tracy Bastain, an associate professor at the University of Southern California and senior author of the study.

“I think this is important evidence, given that it’s the first U.S.-based study and findings are quite consistent with the other studies published in North America with comparable fluoride exposure levels,” added the study’s lead investigator Ashley Malin.

“Conducting a nationwide U.S. study on this topic would be important, but I think the findings of the current study and recent studies from Canada and Mexico suggest that there is a real concern here.”

Bottled Fiji Water Sold Specifically on Amazon Recalled for Contamination With Metals, Bacteria https://truthbasedmedia.com/bottled-fiji-water-sold-specifically-on-amazon-recalled-for-contamination-with-metals-bacteria/ https://truthbasedmedia.com/bottled-fiji-water-sold-specifically-on-amazon-recalled-for-contamination-with-metals-bacteria/#respond Sun, 09 Jun 2024 08:58:37 +0000 https://truthbasedmedia.com/?p=205458 (Natural News)—Natural Waters of Viti Limited has voluntarily recalled more than 78,500 cases of Fiji Natural Artesian Water after tests revealed the presence of manganese and three different strains of bacteria.

Affected lots of the water were sold only on Amazon between February 1 and March 3 of this year – if you did not buy Fiji water on Amazon, in other words, then you have nothing to worry about.

According to Real Simple, the affected lots were also sold in the state of Washington.

An X post about the voluntary recall explains that nearly 1.9 million bottles of Fiji water sold on Amazon are included. They were all sold in 24 packs containing 500-milliliter bottles.

The recalled bottles have production dates (PRD) that include:

  • Nov. 11, 2023
  • Nov. 12, 2023
  • Nov. 13, 2023
  • Nov. 24, 2023
  • Nov. 25, 2023

The Case UPC Code printed on the recalled products is 632565000043. The bottle UPC Code is 632565000012.

“Fiji Water remains safe to buy and consume,” the company reassured its customers on social media. “This is a quality issue only affecting the specific lots sold on Amazon.com.”

Fiji recall not severe; company says no risk

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has designated this a Class III recall, which out of the three classes the agency has is the least severe.

A class I recall is issued for products that could cause “severe adverse health consequences,” including death, while a Class III recall “is not likely to cause adverse health consequences.”

Manganese is not particularly offensive as it is merely a “naturally occurring substance found in many types of rocks and soil,” according to the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry. Manganese is often found in beans, grains, nuts and some teas, and may also be added to foods or dietary supplements as a mineral.

The FDA says that bottled water in general typically contains “safe levels of manganese,” with a maximum allowable concentration of no more than 0.05 milligrams per liter (mg/L).

A spokesperson for The Wonderful Company, which represents Fiji, told the media that customers need not be worried about manganese in Fiji bottled water as it “relates to a matter from several months ago that never posed any health or safety risk.”

Harvard Public Health also classifies manganese as “a mineral necessary for human health but dangerous in large quantities.”

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) says manganese in typical amounts found in food and beverage has “not shown any harm,” however “some people have developed manganese toxicity by consuming water containing very high levels.”

As for the bacteria, the company is insistent that there is no risk involved with this, either. The levels detected are said to be below the amount considered unsafe, so consumers need not worry, the company says.

“It affected products that were sold through only one distributor, and 99% of all those affected bottles were reclaimed with the remainder in warehouses to be returned,” the spokesperson added.

“There is no higher priority to us than the safety and quality of Fiji Water. There is no health or safety risk posed by manganese or bacteria in the recalled lots of Fiji. Moreover, Fiji Water conducts regular testing to ensure consumers enjoy the soft, smooth taste of Fiji Water that they expect and love.”

If you or someone you know purchased Fiji Water from the affected lots, you are encouraged to call 1-866-406-4149 for more information or to have any remaining questions answered.

There are so many contaminated consumer products these days that it is sometimes hard to keep up. Learn more at StopEatingPoison.com.

Top 6 Ways Hollywood Cons Viewers Into “Consuming” Big Lies About Food, Medicine, Street Drugs, Water, Climate https://truthbasedmedia.com/top-6-ways-hollywood-cons-viewers-into-consuming-big-lies-about-food-medicine-street-drugs-water-climate/ https://truthbasedmedia.com/top-6-ways-hollywood-cons-viewers-into-consuming-big-lies-about-food-medicine-street-drugs-water-climate/#respond Tue, 26 Mar 2024 11:24:02 +0000 https://truthbasedmedia.com/?p=202218 (Natural News)—It should be renamed Follywood, as the lack of good sense and foolishness embedded in today’s movies and shows should not have the grand influence that it does on the masses, conning them into daily “functions” that fuel their own health and safety demise. Even the commercials are mostly for insane foods, medicines and personal care products that contain contaminants that fuel all the horrific (yet preventable) diseases and disorders we see besieging the believers all across America daily. If you haven’t realized yet, start taking heed of all the scams, swindles and cons embedded into Follywood movies and shows, as if it’s just “normal” life for normal people with normal habits.

  1. Milk Consumption: Thousands of movies and shows feature lead characters filling up a glass with milk to drink, as if it’s normal and healthy to consume, even though conventional milk causes chronic inflammation and often contains hormones, antibiotics and other contaminants.
  2. Global Warming, a.k.a. “Climate Change”: Never has a bigger lie swept the globe faster than fake “climate change,” where humans are all supposed to believe that if Americans stop using gasoline, quit eating meat and scream “climate change” all day, the whole world will be saved from burning up and blowing away (plus dying from pandemics caused by human-warped weather). It’s climate change mass hypnosis, and the liberals are eating it up faster than an obese kid eats candy on Halloween night.
  3. Prescription Medications: Nearly every movie and show has a protagonist who swallows prescription drugs straight from the bottle next to the bed, usually first thing upon waking. Pay no mind that most of these drugs (including vaccines) contain dangerous, lab-concocted formulas that CAUSE disease and disorder, but never heal anything at all.
  4. Food Waste: Oftentimes, characters in movies and shows cook enough food to feed a small army, even though only a few people are eating (who usually only take one bite and leave). It’s common to see an entire kitchen table full of prepared food, fueling the obesity epidemic in America (one in every three people are overweight, and half of those are obese).
  5. Hard Drugs: In most movies and shows, actors who do hard drugs are just fine again within minutes or hours, having no problem functioning with daily life affairs. This is a grand illusion, as most drug addicts quit their jobs, have horrible health issues, become perverted, homeless and desperate for more drugs, plus risk overdose and/or prison with every high.
  6. Tap Water: In nearly every movie and show, at some point, an actor takes an empty glass, walks over to the faucet, turns on the water, fills the glass, then drinks it, like it’s perfectly normal and healthy. After all, it’s just water, right? Wrong. Most U.S. tap water is contaminated with a deadly insecticide called fluoride, that causes cancer, brittle bones, a calcified pineal gland, lowered IQ and does NOT prevent cavities. Check the research.

Get ready to see climate alarmism embedded in 50% of all new shows and movies Hollywood puts out

Eugenicist billionaires are now funding climate alarmists and Hollywood writers to embed climate “change” propaganda into at least HALF of all movies and shows, making characters highly emotional about the whole Ponzi scheme, pretending that it’s real and matters more than anything else ever.

This is the new playbook for “Follywood” and the writers are being commanded (with big payoffs) to make characters act angry and depressed about the fake climate crisis. It’s the “climate emergency fund” and if you don’t support it, you are deemed a domestic terrorist intent on killing everyone and everything that moves on the planet (even though nobody in India or China is attempting to pollute anything any less at all). This may seem like history repeating itself, as Hitler used propaganda films to get the rest of the world to believe in his psychotic schemes of depopulating the world while he attempted to become the sole tyrant.

Tune your apocalypse dial to Preparedness.news  for updates on real news that exposes all the fraud and lifestyle detriment embedded in Hollywood movies and shows.

The Miraculous Nature of Water https://truthbasedmedia.com/the-miraculous-nature-of-water/ https://truthbasedmedia.com/the-miraculous-nature-of-water/#comments Fri, 22 Dec 2023 12:18:18 +0000 https://truthbasedmedia.com/?p=199628 (Greg Reese)—The stated mission of modern science is to dominate and control nature. It was born of the philosophies of Francis Bacon who suggested we could learn “to command nature in action”, and of René Descartes who wrote that mankind could become “the masters and possessors of nature.” This was science flipped on its head because the previous scientific philosophy saw nature as a perfect creation of god to be observed and understood. Take for instance, water. Without water, we would not exist. And so the true value is in understanding the nature of water so that we can flow with it, not control it.

For over 20 years, Japanese scientist, Dr. Masaru Emoto, studied the groundbreaking science of how the molecular structure in water transforms when exposed to human words, thoughts, and sounds. Dr. Emoto would simply label a sample of water with different written words such as “love and gratitude” or “I hate you.” He would then freeze the water samples and capture them as they crystallized with high-speed microscopic photography. The results were astonishing. The crystals formed from water exposed to the words, “love and gratitude” were clear, attractive, and symmetrical. And the crystals formed from “I hate you” were distorted, asymmetrical, and opaque.

Over and over again, water samples exposed to positive intention formed the hexagonal snowflake-like patterns indicative of structured water found in nature, and samples exposed to negative intention would lose its structure and mutate, which was also found to be true with samples of polluted water.

Decades of repeated experiments have clearly shown that water is transformed when exposed to human word, thought, and sound. Dr. Emoto theorized that this is because water has consciousness. Russian studies have shown that water is imprinted by the energy of its environment, and it retains memory from everything it comes in contact with, even when separated.

During the discovery of the genome, Dr Bruce Lipton was studying cellular behavior at Stanford University and discovered that our genes switch on or off based on their environment. Human beings are made of about 50 trillion cells and each cell is its own little creature that eats, digests, reproduces, and forms communities. Each individual cell is constantly reading the quality of its environment through it’s outer membrane skin. This includes stressful emotions sensed via chemicals in the bloodstream. And when we are stressed, negative, or fearful, then our cells will switch into their own version of fight or flight mode. They will stop the process of self-healing and begin the process of self-defense. And conversely, when we are feeling positive emotions, our cells will be switched into self-healing. And the body will thrive. Dr. Lipton’s discoveries were ignored by modern science, who opted for drugs and surgery over love and happiness.

This began the field of Epigenetics, and answered the question of Nature vs Nurture. Experiments have shown that a living creature will thrive on a genetic level when nurtured. Malignant tumor cells have been reversed and many people claim to have cured themselves of all sorts of disease, including cancer, by shifting and maintaining their mental attitude into a positive one. Official science will predictably call this “spontaneous remission” but it is well documented.

The cell protects itself by its membrane, which has a coating of negatively charged sugar crystals in a suspension of water. Most people think of water as being very special because of its ease of existence in three different states; liquid, ice, and vapor. But the water in our body is not in any of these states. The water that makes up our cells is in the gel state.

Science is now recognizing a fourth state of water. Known as the gel state, EZ water for Exclusion Zone, or Structured water. This fourth state is an electro-polar state wherein some of the water becomes a negatively charged gel and the rest, known as bulk water, maintains a positive charge and remains more like a liquid. This electro-propulsion creates movement and kinetic energy. This is how the blood is moved throughout our body. The latest evidence shows that the blood is pumping the heart, not the other way around. And it’s the gel state water that propels the blood.

To thrive, this natural propulsion system requires a connection to the Earth, sunlight, positive human connection, and peace of mind. Our body is made up of over fifty trillion cells and each one’s health is dependent upon our own. Our happiness, or lack thereof, not only affects our health, it affects the health of everyone who enters our environment. So if you’d like to make the world a better place, then learn how to be happy.

Kari Lake Highlights “Corruption in Broad Daylight” of Katie Hobbs Advisor Connected to Saudi Water Scandal https://truthbasedmedia.com/kari-lake-highlights-corruption-in-broad-daylight-of-katie-hobbs-advisor-connected-to-saudi-water-scandal/ https://truthbasedmedia.com/kari-lake-highlights-corruption-in-broad-daylight-of-katie-hobbs-advisor-connected-to-saudi-water-scandal/#comments Fri, 28 Jul 2023 01:43:43 +0000 https://truthbasedmedia.com/?p=195212 Stolen elections have consequences. We’ve seen the disastrous results across the nation after the 2020 presidential election was stolen. But no state has been more impacted by their own stolen election than Arizona, a state in which Kari Lake should currently be governor instead of Katie Hobbs.

Lake highlighted just the latest example of massive corruption from Hobbs and the people surrounding her. The partner of Hobbs’ top advisor is now lobbying for a Saudi company to export precious water from the drought-stricken state.

As Lake noted on Twitter, this is “corruption in broad daylight”:

A Saudi Arabian company has been exporting Arizona water overseas despite our historic drought. They just hired the business partner of @katiehobbs’ TOP campaign adviser to lobby for them. This is corruption in broad daylight. Hobbs is selling Arizona out to the highest bidder. And I will fight like hell to stop her.

Multiple legal battles have been fought to try to correct the stolen Arizona election of 2022, but the corrupt judiciary has been running the standard voter-fraud-cover-up script. Despite the fact that hundreds of thousands of votes are “questionable” at best in the extremely tight race, Hobbs continues to sit in the Governor’s office.

But Lake keeps fighting for Arizonans nonetheless.

Here’s the story about the scandal in question generated from corporate media reports by Truth Based Media:

Saudi Company Hires Partner of Katie Hobbs’ Top Advisor to Lobby for Water Exports During Drought

A recent development surrounding a Saudi Arabian company’s groundwater pumping leases under state land has raised concerns due to its hiring of a new lobbyist with ties to Arizona Governor Katie Hobbs’ campaign adviser. The foreign company, Fondomonte, entered into a contract with Chad Guzman and his firm, Signal Peak Consulting. Guzman is the sole member of Signal Peak and is also involved in managing a lobbying firm called Fillmore Strategy, alongside Joe Wolf, Hobbs’ senior adviser.

Both Guzman’s and Wolf’s companies share the same address in state business registration records. Despite being closely associated with Hobbs, Wolf stated that he is no longer receiving payments from the governor’s campaign. Signal Peak Consulting was hired approximately two months ago, according to Matthew Benson, a partner at political firm Veridus and spokesperson for Fondomonte. The scrutiny of Fondomonte’s below-market-rate leases of state land led to increased attention, and Signal Peak was only recently registered as a lobbyist for Fondomonte.

Both Wolf and Benson denied any involvement of Wolf in Fondomonte’s affairs, as the company conducts business with state land and water departments under Hobbs’ control. However, questions remain about how Wolf maintains a separation between his shared business with Guzman and Guzman’s consulting clients, which include Fondomonte. Wolf stated that he has no ties to the Saudi company and dismissed the matter as insignificant.

Guzman, on the other hand, has not responded to inquiries seeking comment. According to Benson, the decision to hire Guzman and Signal Peak Consulting was based on Guzman’s expertise and extensive experience in natural resources and water issues. Benson himself was hired by Fondomonte to handle strategic communications.

Fondomonte’s leases of state land, which allow them to pump unlimited amounts of water, were brought to light by The Arizona Republic last year. The company secured leases under a prior administration, with one lease in the Butler Valley near Bouse costing only $25 per acre, a fraction of the market rate. Fondomonte uses the land to grow alfalfa for export to the Middle East, relying on groundwater from a transfer basin that could potentially serve as a future water supply for the Phoenix area. This controversy has arisen amidst a severe megadrought in the West, with areas like Rio Verde Foothills exemplifying the region’s water scarcity.

Governor Hobbs criticized these leases during her campaign and in her first State of the State speech. The issue became a non-partisan concern during the 2022 election cycle, with candidates from various parties criticizing what they perceived as favorable deals for Fondomonte. Hobbs’ administration is currently studying approaches for transportation basin leases and aims to prioritize Arizona’s interests. However, they declined to comment on the connection between Guzman and Wolf or a recent article in the Washington Post suggesting that Hobbs’ staff recommended not renewing Fondomonte’s leases, set to expire next year.

Under Hobbs’ purview, the state Department of Water Resources halted two well-drilling permits for Fondomonte earlier this year, and in May, paused lease renewals and applications for state-owned land in basins like Butler Valley.

Fondomonte has hired notable Arizona political figures as lobbyists, including Jordan Rose, founder of Rose Law Group, and former Congressman John Shadegg. The company intends to leverage their expertise on water issues to communicate with officials regarding its operations and the significance of agriculture, particularly alfalfa, to the state’s economy.

How to Store Emergency Water in Your Vehicle https://truthbasedmedia.com/how-to-store-emergency-water-in-your-vehicle/ https://truthbasedmedia.com/how-to-store-emergency-water-in-your-vehicle/#respond Thu, 27 Apr 2023 10:42:16 +0000 https://truthbasedmedia.com/?p=192085 When storing drinking water in your car, there are certain factors you need to consider, such as the weather and how many people your supply is intended for. If you live in an area with both hot summers and cold winters, having two separate water storage systems – one for cold weather and one for hot weather – is the best way forward.

Here are some recommendations and invaluable advice shared by professional outdoor educators and survival experts on how to store emergency water in your vehicle.

Storage tips for when the weather is hot

Avoid water in plastic bottles. A study by researchers at the University of Florida and Nanjing University found that plastic water bottles left in a hot car for a week leaked significant amounts of harmful chemicals into the drinking water. Examples of these toxic chemicals include antimony, a known carcinogen, and BPA, which may cause serious health problems like cancer and hormone and metabolic disorders.

Use aluminum and stainless steel bottles. Metal containers won’t leach all sorts of nasty chemicals into your water, no matter how hot it gets. They are also quite durable should you drop them. The only downside is they can get really warm in hot conditions. (Related: Survival essentials: Tips for storing water in your car.)

Consider bagged water. Bagged water comes in convenient package sizes, don’t degrade or leak, are easy to store, have a long shelf life and are able to withstand extreme temperatures. However, bagged water is expensive.

Consider boxed water. You can buy 12-pack, 24-pack and 32-pack boxed water in recyclable packaging. Avoid storing boxed water under car seats or anywhere it can get crushed. Boxed water will fit nicely inside a cooler in a trunk storage bin.

Consider canned water. Some companies sell emergency water with a 50-year shelf life. This emergency water is packed in cans made of corrosion-resistant aluminum, which is perfect for long-term storage. These cans are designed to withstand conditions between 38-140 F, making them a good option for keeping in your car when the weather’s hot. The main drawback of canned water is its price; but since it has such a long shelf life, you probably won’t have to replace it frequently.

Keep a cooler in your car. Even a cooler that’s not filled with ice can help insulate your emergency water supply from the heat. Soft coolers are generally more convenient for use in a car, but hard-sided models with extra insulation are usually more effective.

Storage tips for when the weather is cold

Avoid water in plastic bottles. In cold, freezing weather, plastic tends to become brittle, so opt for water stored in non-plastic containers.

Avoid canned water. Cans could burst when the weather is too cold, so don’t store canned water in your car.

Don’t fill up your containers all the way. To avoid any problems with expanding water and cracked containers during winter months, be sure to leave a bit of empty space in your containers. As a general rule, leave at least ¼ or ? of the container empty to provide enough room for the water to expand.

Use a cooler. Generally, all commercial coolers use the same method of insulation – foam insulation between the inner and outer walls. Cheaper hard coolers use styrofoam while premium hard coolers use heavier but more effective polyurethane.

Aside from a cooler, there are other materials that you can use to insulate your emergency water supply from the cold, such as survival blankets, which are really good at trapping heat and can provide another layer of protection. You can wrap your emergency water containers in survival blankets before storing them in a cooler.

Where to store emergency water in your vehicle

Car cabin. When the weather is cold, you can prevent your emergency water from freezing if you store it in the cabin since you will probably turn on the car heater as you drive. That way, your water supply will get a blast of hot air, which can make a difference in the long run.

Storing emergency water in the cabin of your car also makes it more accessible, especially in times of need.

Trunk/hatchback. Storing emergency water in the trunk of your car can help you save space. During hot months, your emergency water supply will also stay a bit cooler in the trunk where it’s protected from the sun.

Points to remember when storing water in your vehicle

Assuming your emergency water and the container you used were both clean at the time of storage, it should remain safe to drink for six months. That said, check your water containers at least every six months for any signs of leaking or deterioration. If you need to rotate out your supply, you can use the water you’re replacing to water your plants.

A three-day supply (more if you have room in your vehicle) is a good amount to stash in your car.

Your car emergency kit should include other means of getting potable/safe drinking water, such as a LifeStraw, iodine or purification tablets that can help purify water.

Consider purchasing quality hydration packs, or bladder packs, which are flexible reservoirs that can fit into your backpack and offer some protection from freezing and UV rays. Store 100-ounce hydration packs per person for emergencies.

You should also pack a camp stove because, despite your best efforts, your emergency water may still freeze in winter. You can use the stove to melt enough water for drinking in an emergency situation.

How to Dig a Well to Secure Your Water Supply Before SHTF https://truthbasedmedia.com/how-to-dig-a-well-to-secure-your-water-supply-before-shtf/ https://truthbasedmedia.com/how-to-dig-a-well-to-secure-your-water-supply-before-shtf/#respond Wed, 26 Oct 2022 09:59:03 +0000 https://truthbasedmedia.com/?p=183915 Preppers who live in the U.S. are very lucky because they have access to clean running water. But you will need more water when SHTF because it will eventually run out, even with careful rationing. (h/t to PreppersWill.com)

Technology has made it easier to forget crucial prepping skills

Even if you live in an area where many people have wells on their property, not everyone may know how to hand-dig a well.

There are many drilling tools available for your use, but when SHTF you might not have access to those tools, especially if you don’t have the fuel or electricity necessary to power them.

With picks, shovels and some elbow grease, you can dig a well on your homestead. Before SHTF, you can use this information to dig a well, so you have access to clean water. (Related: Water supply and prepping: A beginner’s guide to rainwater collection.)

Where to dig a well on your homestead

If you want to dig a well on your homestead, you can’t just dig a hole in the ground and hope that you locate water.

You need proper information to ensure that water will be found where you intend to dig. Study the land’s topography to get this crucial information.

Water flows downhill, including subsurface water. If you’re not sure where to dig, look for plants that require a steady supply of water.

If there is no visible surface water, the trees on your property may rely on groundwater to survive.

Similarly, a vanished brook or stream may have gone underground. Both of these regions are worth considering as potential well locations.

Tips for digging a well

Before you start digging, inspect the soil. What is the soil made of?

Is it mostly clay, gravel, sand, or rock and boulders?

Hand-excavated wells are often limited to soils that you can easily dig by hand. If there are a lot of large boulders, look for another location.

While a place full of rocks may be out of the question, you should also look for another location if the area contains soil that is very sandy since these types of soils can make your well collapse.

Now, how do you dig for water once you’ve decided to do so?

First, secure water for your household using only shovels, picks and other manual tools.

Don’t wait until it’s too late to dig a well. Plan for your well while you still have water in your stockpile so you don’t have the added stress of finding water because your supplies have already run out.

If the dirt is too dry, the hole for your well may collapse. The same thing might happen if it’s too wet. Worse, it may quickly fill with water while you are still digging into it.

Cave-ins are another thing to consider while digging a well. To avoid this, the sides of the hole should be strengthened using the right materials.

You can do this by gathering as many boards as you can before you begin excavating. It’s better to use longer boards.

You can also install special concrete sleeves in the hole. More sleeves added will help prevent cave-ins as you go deeper. If you don’t have access to concrete sleeves, you can make do with boards.

Alternatively, you can secure the hole with a metal or plastic culvert. If you can get culverts, these are a better option compared to boards. Culverts can also be left in the hole to serve as the well’s liner.

When choosing the location for your well, avoid septic systems or areas where there have been outhouses or latrines in recent times. The odds of contamination are higher close to septic fields or any area previously used for human waste.

Digging too close can mean that you get water that is high in fecal coliform and can make you very sick.

To start digging a well, measure a circle at least five feet in diameter. Begin digging with your shovel and pick and make sure you dig evenly around the full circle.

After digging a few feet, begin lining the hole with boards. Insert them vertically or place the first length of the culvert.

Make sure the boards are close fitting and use cross members to keep the boards tight against the hole’s sides. As you dig deeper, keep hammering the boards down. This may be time-consuming, but these additional steps will help protect you from cave-ins.

Hand-dug wells are often shallow, ranging in depth from five to 65 feet. To dig a well that deep will require a lot of effort and energy that you might not be able to afford in a survival scenario. Calculate the risks and the rewards before starting a labor-intensive activity like digging a well.

If you want to get the well done faster, you can ask your neighbors to help you dig the well and share it with them.

Before you start digging, make sure you also have a reliable path out of the well’s hole. If and when you hit water, the hole might quickly fill up so a ladder will help you get out alive.

You already have the material to line the well hole if you’re using a metal or plastic culvert. If not, you can line the sides of the well with masonry or stones. This will help stabilize the well and avoid further cave-ins.

Backfill the gap between the liner and the walls with crushed stone, gravel or tiny rocks once the well is established. This will help keep silt out of the well water.

Cap the well to prevent objects from falling into it and contaminating the water.

When SHTF, a working well may be your only source of drinking water. Choose the right spot on your homestead to dig a well, so you have access to clean water when disaster strikes.

Historic droughts and threats of water shortages are occurring around the world, as media reports highlight rivers — such as the Loire, Po and Danube in Europe — reaching historic lows.1 In China, a double threat of heat and lack of rainfall has led portions of the Yangtze river basin to go dry, affecting not only crops but also the drinking water supplies of people and livestock.2

In the U.S., the Colorado River is at “critical levels,” leading officials from the U.S. Interior Department to state that water use in the basin must be reduced “in order to avoid catastrophic collapse of the Colorado River System and a future of uncertainty and conflict.”3 Toward that end, Washington officials have now stepped in, announcing that certain water supplies to U.S. states and Mexico would be cut.4

Much of the crisis is blamed on human activities, but as James Corbett covers in “The Corbett Report,” they may not be the activities you’re thinking of, like driving cars but, rather, activities that are much more nefarious, like the intentional creation of a water crisis in order to gain totalitarian control.5

The History of Climatic Warfare

While geoengineering, including spraying sulfate aerosols into the Earth’s stratosphere in order to modify climate,6 is often still talked about as though it’s straight from a science fiction movie, weather modification techniques have been used for military purposes for some time.

Sometimes referred to as weather warfare, the notion that humans could control Mother Nature became a reality in 1946, when scientists working with the General Electric Research Laboratory released dry ice into clouds, creating the first human-made snowstorm.7 As noted by Smithsonian Magazine:8

“After the experiments of G.E.’s Research Laboratory, there was a feeling that humanity might finally be able to control one of the greatest variables of life on earth. And, as Cold War tensions heightened, weather control was seen by the United States as a potential weapon that could be even more devastating than nuclear warfare …

In August of 1953 the United States formed the President’s Advisory Committee on Weather Control. Its stated purpose was to determine the effectiveness of weather modification procedures and the extent to which the government should engage in such activities.”

It wasn’t long after that the U.S. military began to use weather modification practices in warfare, including during the Vietnam War. Corbett noted:9

“Unsurprisingly, the idea was put to active military use almost immediately. From 1967 to 1972, the US Air Force ran Operation Popeye, a highly classified rainmaking program deployed in Southeast Asia ‘in an attempt to slow the movement of North Vietnamese troops and supplies through the Ho Chi Minh trail network.’

The program was so classified that even President Nixon’s Defense Secretary, Melvin Laird, didn’t know of its existence until it was reported in the press. So, who went over the Secretary of Defense’s head to authorize and coordinate a scheme to weaponize the weather? Why, Henry Kissinger, of course.

… Don’t worry, though. The revelation of the program caused such international outrage that the UN introduced a convention in 1977 prohibiting the use of environmental modification technology in warfare. The US ratified that convention in 1980, so no one has ever tried to modify the weather for warfare again. (Would world leaders ever lie to the public about something like that?)”

Cloud Seeding Is Used Worldwide

While climatic warfare was supposed to have been phased out in 1980, weather modification — for various purposes — has been picking up steam around the globe. More than 50 countries worldwide already participate in one type of weather modification known as cloud seeding.10

The prospect of using cloud seeding to increase rainfall is its most popular usage. In the U.S., about $15 million is spent on cloud-seeding projects annually, which pales in comparison to the $100 million a year spent in China. Still, in the U.S. cloud seeding has grown by one-third in the last 10 years.11

There are a number of different ways that cloud seeding can work, but typically dry ice (frozen carbon dioxide) pellets or silver iodide are applied to certain clouds to modify their output. Seeding agents may be applied to clouds from the ground but, most often, aircraft are used to apply the materials to the clouds. This occurs either by releasing the seeding agent below the cloud into its updrafts or by dropping the seeds directly into the upper regions of the clouds.12

China recently made headlines for using seed clouds to induce rainfall over the Yangtze River, and it also used cloud seeding to ensure dry weather during the 2008 Beijing Olympics.13 In Wyoming, the Wyoming Weather Modification Pilot Program conducted a randomized cloud-seeding program, which found the seeding increased snowfall by 5% to 15% under ideal seeding conditions.14

In North Dakota, meanwhile, the North Dakota Cloud Modification Project reported that cloud seeding produces an estimated 5% to 10% additional rainfall annually in the project area while reducing crop hail losses by 45%. As for costs, they say it only costs 16 cents per acre to enhance rain and suppress hail.15

As you can imagine, aside from the benefits of protecting water supplies or the military applications, there are many people who have their hand in the pot when it comes to benefiting from weather modification. Corbett explained:16

“So many events in the course of human activity are predicated on short-term weather and long-term climate phenomena that the ability to determine (or even influence) either could be extremely valuable. Insurance companies, for example, stand to lose billions (and reconstruction-related industries stand to make those same billions) every time a strong storm makes landfall in populated areas.

So it should not be surprising that a market has evolved for ‘weather derivatives,’ effectively allowing large financial institutions to make money gambling on the weather. And it should also come as no surprise that this market was largely pioneered by that infamous globalist-connected insider corporation, Enron.”

The practice is not without controversy, however. Potential consequences of cloud seeding include environmental impacts downwind of target areas, which may have a negative impact on others — including those across political boundaries.17 Could it be, also, that global elites have already harnessed this technology for their own purposes of population-level control? Corbett thinks so:18

“Yes, of course the establishment press is lying to its readers yet again, keeping them in the dark about a well-established technology so their governmental masters can plausibly deny that any large-scale climate events are manmade. Large-scale climate events like, say, a hemisphere-wide drought.

Instead, they can safely blame the current water shortages on the globalist bogeyman … It’s all just a coincidence that we’re plunging into an age of water shortages, droughts, famine and pestilence, guys. And the answer to this crisis is more weather modification!”

‘A Crisis by Design’

In 2018, researchers from the European Commission’s Joint Research Center suggested that competition over limited water resources — or “hydro-political issues” — would be the driver of future wars.19

“Although water issues alone have not been the sole trigger for warfare in the past, tensions over freshwater management and use represent one of the main concerns in political relations between riparian states and may exacerbate existing tensions, increase regional instability and social unrest,” they wrote in Global Environmental Change.20

“The wars of the future,” the New York Post wrote, “will be fought over water not oil.”21 Indeed, other than air, there is no resource as precious as water, and if it becomes scarce, those who control it will retain ultimate power. This, Corbett believes, is part of the master plan:22

“But now let’s entertain for a moment this harebrained, cockamamie, tinfoil wing nut idea that perhaps — just perhaps — the global climactic events taking place at the moment (including the widespread water shortages taking place across the world) are not the result of your carbon footprint.

What if — and I know I’m out on a limb here — they were being deliberately engineered with the types of weather modification technology that we know the US military and other countries around the world have been actively studying for at least 80 years now? What would that mean?

Well, it would certainly create a convenient case for the UN and other would-be world controllers to step in and start restricting productive human activity in the name of saving us from the weather gods. Climate lockdowns to save the day! … Sound farfetched?

Well, as even mainstream commentators are starting to note, the water supply crisis is not simply happening by chance. It is the result of carefully planned government actions, inactions and restrictions.

The answer is obvious: the water shortage is a crisis by design, like the food crisis and the various geopolitical crises and the economic crisis … and it’s designed to justify more government control over you and your life and, in the end, to corral you into tightly controlled urban centers where your access to the necessities of life can be turned off.”

How to Secure Your Own Water for Emergencies

One of the most important preparations you can make is to secure a supply of potable water, as you can survive far longer without food than you can without water. An ideal system to consider, if you have a garden, is to install a large cistern to collect rainwater.

Since I have a full acre of land that I grow food on, I have a 5,000-gallon cistern that collects rainwater from the gutters on my roof. This serves to augment my irrigation system but is also a large emergency source of water. Another strategy is to install a series of connected rain barrels to your gutters.

A system like this can provide you with a source of water indefinitely, provide there isn’t a long-term drought. Just be sure to keep the water clean, using a combination of filters — a leaf diverter as well as a screen on the inlet going into the barrel — and treatment as follows:23

  • Treat the water with bleach once a month. This will help prevent algae growth. All you need is 1/4 teaspoon per gallon of water, or 2 to 4 tablespoons for a 55-gallon barrel. Beneficial microbes can also be used in lieu of bleach. One such product is Nutri-Life BAM24
  • Test the pH of your water once a month using a standard pH test strip. If the water is neutral or alkaline (aka “hard” water), add baking soda to bring back its acidity. For a 55-gallon barrel, you typically only need a couple of tablespoons to correct the pH balance. Vinegar is another option for lowering the pH

The best-case scenario is that you install such a system and don’t need it. In that case, you can still use the water for your garden. But in the worst-case scenario, in which war erupts over water rights and those in power attempt to limit or, worse, eliminate, your supply, you’ll have a backup ready.

While the globalist cabal claims “climate change” is the No. 1 threat to humanity, necessitating radical quality of life sacrifices and the total relinquishing of privacy and freedom, there are far more pressing problems. One key environmental threat facing mankind today is the increasing lack of potable water, thanks to a combination of water pollution and scarcity. Without potable water, we’re in immediate lethal peril.

Groundwater aquifers rapidly depleting, resulting in water scarcity, higher prices, land cave-ins and water wars. On top of that, much of the world’s remaining water supply has become too contaminated to drink or even bathe in, and infrastructure — especially in the U.S. but also elsewhere — is nearing the end of its useful life and is in dire need of upgrades.

Water Contamination Commonplace Even in Developed Countries

News of dangerous water contamination in the U.S., reported in the first week of September 2022 alone, include:

E.coli contamination in Baltimore, Maryland, thanks to aging water pipes and poorly maintained wastewater infrastructure.1

Toxic arsenic levels in New York City tap water rendering it unsafe to drink.2

The complete breakdown of the water infrastructure in Jackson, Mississippi, after the treatment plant got flooded, leaving some 180,000 people without running water.3 When something does come out of the tap, it’s mud brown.

As in Baltimore and Flint, Michigan,4 this crisis could have been avoided if proper maintenance and upkeep of infrastructure had been prioritized.

The Biden administration has now earmarked $429 million to help repair Jackson’s crumbling water and wastewater systems, but the final price tag has been quoted to run into the billions, and will take many months, if not years, to complete. In the meantime, residents are in a life-or-death crisis.5

According to the World Health Organization, more than 2 billion people worldwide drink water contaminated with feces,6 resulting in hundreds of thousands of deaths due to preventable diseases each year.

Water sources in both developing and developed countries are also contaminated with toxic chemical pollutants that treatment plants are not prepared to filter. Among the most hazardous water pollutants are arsenic, fluoride, nitrate, pharmaceutical drugs, pesticides, per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) and microplastics.7

Algae Blooms Are a Costly Problem

According to a September 5, 2022, article in the San Francisco Chronicle,8 wastewater from 37 sewage plants dumped into the San Francisco Bay has turned the water a murky brown, and dead fish litter the shores. (While hard to believe, an estimated 80% of global wastewater is released into the environment untreated.9)

An estimated 10,000 yellowfin goby and hundreds of striped bass and white sturgeon have washed ashore so far. The cause for the die-off: toxic algae bloom, triggered by the nitrogen and phosphorous from the feces and urine in the discharged wastewater.

Harmful algae bloom (HABs) will turn the water red and release neurotoxic compounds that are then passed up the food chain. It also depletes the water of oxygen, eventually — if not properly addressed — creating a dead zone where no life can be sustained.10 As reported by the San Francisco Chronicle:11

“The regional water board has told agencies that it will probably require caps on nutrients in wastewater when their regional permit comes up for renewal in 2024.

But upgrading dozens of aging treatment facilities could cost $14 billion, which would double or triple ratepayers’ water bills, [executive officer of San Francisco Bay Regional Water Quality Control Board, Eileen] White said in an interview.

‘It’s a multibillion-dollar Bay Area issue that needs to be thought through very carefully, taking the science into effect,’ she said. ‘There’s all of sorts of different treatments, and none of them are cheap’ …

Federal, state and local governments and the treatment plants themselves have spent millions to research the issue, but like much of climate change planning, the science and policy are moving slower than the problem is progressing.”

Some water treatment plants could help address the problem using already existing infrastructure. The San Jose/Santa Clara Regional Wastewater Facility, for example, has been able to reduce the nitrogen load of its wastewater from 17 to 11 milligrams per liter, at no extra cost, simply by directing the water through a series of four tanks containing nitrogen-consuming bacteria before it’s discharged.

Wastewater Could Be a Source of Reusable Phosphorous

One of the important resources found in wastewater is phosphorus. This mineral is an essential nutrient for plant growth, which is why many fertilizers include it. And, while widespread across the Earth, there are limited areas where it is found in concentrated form.

However, wastewater contains a significant amount, as phosphorus is not only found in human excrement but also in detergents. Removing and reusing phosphorus from wastewater would not only increase supply, but would also reduce the risk of algae blooms.

The U.N. has proposed12 that removing and recovering phosphorus, nitrogen and other nutrients from wastewater could prevent hyper-growth of HEBs in lakes and rivers, while simultaneously providing a unique business opportunity to recuperate a finite resource essential for agriculture. The Blue Plains Advanced Wastewater Treatment Plant has been doing this for years already, as seen in the 2012 video report above.

Pharmaceutical Pollution Is Widespread

Anything and everything you flush down the drain ends up somewhere and, oftentimes, the end destination is your local waterways. Pharmaceutical drugs are particularly problematic, as water treatment plants are not equipped to filter out these compounds.

Water treatment plants fail to filter out an estimated 93% of the drug compounds in wastewater, and a 2017 U.S. Geological Survey found 80% of U.S. waterways contained pharmaceutical pollution,13 which can have a devastating impact on aquatic species.

Proper disposal of drugs, lotions, creams and perfumes is paramount to the reduction of water pollution. By using all-natural and unscented personal care products, dropping off unused and expired drugs at a drug take-back site and not flushing any medication down the toilet, you can reduce your personal pharmaceutical footprint.

If you’re in the U.S., the Food and Drug Administration has tools to help you find a local drug take-back location on its Drug Disposal: Drug Take Back Locations page.14

Firefighting Foam Contaminates Water Across the US

Firefighting foam also poses a serious threat to our water supplies. In 2015, investigative journalist Sharon Lerner published an extensive series15 of articles about the dangers of PFAS16 (two of the most well-known ones of which are PFOA and PFOS) and the industry’s attempts to cover up the damage.

Part 1517 addressed the U.S. military’s affinity for toxic flame retardants, despite the fact that billions of dollars are being spent trying to clean up drinking water contaminated by firefighting foam used on military installations. Many other PFAS chemicals18 — such as PFHxS, PFHpA, PFBA and PFBS — have also been detected in drinking water, yet the military is only attempting to clean up PFOA and PFOS contamination.

Around hundreds of U.S. military bases, PFAS have leached through the ground, contaminating surrounding groundwater. In addition to prostate cancer and thyroid problems, these chemicals have been linked to other types of cancer as well, including kidney, testicular and bladder cancer, as well as immune dysfunction, reproductive problems and hormone disruption.

Considering the public health threat posed by PFAS contamination, courtesy of firefighting foam, you’d think the U.S. government would take proactive measures to eliminate the use of these toxic chemicals. After all, other countries are using PFAS-free firefighting foam, and it works just as well. Alas, this is not happening.

Incomplete data make it very difficult to ascertain how widespread the PFAS-contamination might be, but drinking water near at least 46 military installations in the U.S. have been found to contain PFOA and/or PFOS at levels exceeding 70 parts per trillion (ppt), which is the EPA’s health advisory level for drinking water.19

If you live anywhere near a military installation or fire department fire-training area, consider getting your tap water tested for PFAS and other toxic contaminants. Water testing is a prudent step no matter where you live these days, as is filtering your water, as there are literally hundreds of potential water contaminants that can harm your health.

Factory Farm Contamination

Another major source of water contamination is runoff from factory farms. In addition to farming chemicals such as nitrates, which pose a serious threat to water quality, there’s the issue of drug-resistant bacteria, which are a result of antibiotic overuse in livestock.

When it comes to water pollution from farms, the problem is twofold. First, regular farming is exempt from the Clean Water Act. Second, while farms registered as concentrated animal feeding operations (CAFOs) are regulated under the Act, many simply don’t apply for the required National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System permits, which dictate what you’re allowed to discharge into national waterways.

Between 2011 and 2016, the number of CAFOs in the U.S. increased by 956, to a total of 19,496, yet the total number of CAFO discharge permits didn’t go up but actually declined by 1,806 during that period.20 Many farmers also don’t bother with nutrient management planning, which is voluntary, even though there are plenty of conservation practices that can help reduce water pollution.21

The Global Crisis of Vanishing Groundwater

Industrial farming also uses enormous amounts of potable water for irrigation, and in many areas, aquifers are being drained faster than they can be refilled, resulting in water scarcity.

According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, about 80% of U.S. consumptive water (and more than 90% in many Western states) is used for agricultural purposes.22

NASA mapping23 of groundwater storage trends for the earth’s 37 largest aquifers reveals 21 aquifers have already exceeded their sustainability tipping points and are being depleted, and 13 of them are considered “significantly distressed, threatening regional water security and resilience.” Considering groundwater accounts for 99% of potable freshwater,24 the depletion of aquifers is a serious concern. As reported by the Pacific Institute:25

“Depleted groundwater aquifers can take thousands of years to be replenished by rain, snow, and other sources. This option can be off the table when an aquifer becomes so depleted it loses its capacity to store water.

In the U.S., the Ogallala Aquifer, which stretches across parts of Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, New Mexico, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Texas, and Wyoming, illustrates this concern.

A history of groundwater overdraft threatens to deplete the aquifer. Once depleted, it’s estimated the Ogallala Aquifer could take more than 6,000 years to be naturally replenished …

A 2021 Pacific Institute study26 highlighted connections between California groundwater management and local communities’ ability to access water — with significant water equity concerns.

California’s Sustainable Groundwater Management Act (SGMA) was created to help protect groundwater, but the study showed minimum groundwater thresholds defined by SGMA would leave many people vulnerable to losing their water access.”

What Are the Solutions?

There tends to be a “free-for-all” mentality at play where the one who can afford to drill the deepest well wins in the short term, but everyone loses in the long term. Groundwater as a resource needs proper governance and management. Farmers also need more efficient irrigation systems, and we need engineering solutions to improve the refill rate of aquifers.

On a personal level, we also need to make changes in how we use water, and how we grow crops. Selecting the most appropriate crops for any given area would result in more efficient water usage, and would reduce the amount farmers would have to draw from our aquifers. In short, we need to grow food with less water.

The good news is we already know how to do that, and it’s called regenerative agriculture. It’s been well-proven that regenerative agriculture biodynamic farming is far more water efficient than industrial farming. To learn how, see “Regenerative Food and Farming: The Road Forward.”

With water wars becoming a reality even in developed nations (just look at California, where the battle over water allocation has been ongoing for more than a decade27), you’d be wise to give serious thought to emergency water preparations.

Not only do you need a source of water, were your tap water to stop running, but you also need to have the proper supplies on hand to filter and decontaminate that water to make it safe to drink.

Filtering the water you use for drinking, cooking and bathing is, I think, an absolute necessity these days, no matter where you live — unless you’ve had your water tested and are satisfied that it’s pure (which is rare). I recommend installing a whole-house filter system to ensure optimal water quality from your tap.

In an emergency situation, however, when tap water is unavailable, you’ll need to source your water elsewhere and that can be a real challenge, as people in Jackson, Mississippi, are now finding out.

In “How to Secure Your Water Supply for Emergencies,” I review ideas for alternative water sources, such as collecting spring water, or water from a local stream or river, which is far from ideal but might work in the short-term, and setting up a rain catchment system, which is a far more sustainable, long-term solution.

I also go over basic water purification and disinfection guidelines. Rainwater is often thought to be pristine, but it’s not, so even rainwater needs to be properly filtered before drinking.

The time to sort out your emergency plans is now, while municipal water and supply chains are still operational. Once an emergency hits, it’s too late to start thinking about installing wells or rain barrels and buying water filters, as by then the things you need might be incredibly difficult to get.

While it’s clear that between water and electrical grid failures we are starting to enter a very troubling time in America, it’s important to remember that we MUST take charge of our own future. That means breaking away from dependence on government as much as possible, even for expected services like utilities.

Some can get off the grid. Others can only supplement and reduce their dependency. Either way, it’s important that we start tackling this problem as self-reliant individual American citizens immediately. Here’s my show followed by the article by Kevin Hughes…

America’s infrastructure is falling apart, as evidenced by the water shortage in Mississippi and the power grid failure in California.

Residents of Jackson, Mississippi waited in line to obtain water for drinking, bathing, cooking and flushing toilets on Aug. 31 after its water system failed due to the Pearl River’s flooding. A news release from the city said the main water-treatment plant had “challenges with water chemistry,” leading to a dip in water output and a significant drop in water pressure. Prior to the water service disruption, the 150,000 residents of Jackson had been boiling their drinking water as officials warned it could lead to digestive issues.

A day before, Jackson Mayor Chokwe Antar Lumumba said repairing the city’s water system could run to “quite possibly billions of dollars.” He pointed to short staffing and “decades of deferred maintenance” as the culprits for the water system’s deterioration.

Jackson’s predicament is similar to other cities, as it faces water system trouble it can’t afford to repair. Its tax base has crumbled the last few decades as the population declined. The city’s populace is now more than 80 percent Black, with about 25 percent of its people living in poverty.

The state and federal government came to the rescue of Jackson, the Magnolia State’s capital. Mississippi Gov. Tate Reeves announced a state of emergency for Jackson’s water system on Aug. 30, while President Joe Biden authorized an emergency declaration for the state on the same day.

The following day, Biden called Lumumba to talk about response efforts involving the Environmental Protection Agency, the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the Army Corps of Engineers. The president also expressed intent to give Jackson’s aging water infrastructure much-needed federal support.

Meanwhile, Reeves said the state will try to aid Jackson by hiring contractors to work at the O.B. Curtis Water Treatment Plant. The facility, which was the root of Jackson’s water miseries, had been operating at reduced capacity with backup pumps after the principal pumps failed. The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency later posted footage of an emergency rental pump being installed in the water treatment facility on Twitter.

California power grid on the brink of collapse

Meanwhile, the California Independent System Operator (CAISO) circulated a level 1 energy emergency alert quickly after tapping all its accessible power supplies.

Californians, despite prior warnings to decrease usage, decided to charge their electric vehicles. This subsequently drove demand beyond capacity. (Related: Blackout risk in California: EV owners told to avoid charging their vehicles or the power grid might collapse.)

“It is pretty clear Mother Nature has outrun us. The reality is we’re living in an age of extremes – extreme heat, extreme drought,” California Gov. Gavin Newsom stated during a news conference. He also released an executive order on Aug. 31 to free up emergency power supplies.

Officials urged residents to reduce power use between 4 p.m. and 9 p.m. as temperatures rose beyond 100 degrees Fahrenheit.

The heat presents the largest test to the grid since the summer of 2020, when rotating outages overwhelmed parts of the state.
