Kevin Spacey said in a newly published interview that he is homeless and moving between hotels and temporary places to stay as he continues trying to recover professionally from years of legal battles and public allegations.
Spacey told the interviewer that he no longer has a permanent home and that all of his belongings remain in storage. He said he has been “living where I can” while taking meetings, attending events, and searching for acting opportunities. According to the report, his financial situation has been strained for several years, with limited income and significant legal expenses.
The actor’s career changed in 2017 when multiple allegations of sexual misconduct surfaced. One of the most public cases involved Anthony Rapp, who accused Spacey of making an advance toward him when Rapp was 14. Spacey denied wrongdoing. A U.S. civil jury found him not liable in that case, and in 2023 a British jury acquitted him on charges brought by four men. Despite the verdicts, the accusations resulted in the end of his role on House of Cards and the cancellation or recasting of several planned film projects.
Since then, Spacey has worked only intermittently. He has appeared at select events overseas, taken part in smaller productions, and attempted to re-enter the industry through independent projects. He said in the interview that there are influential people in entertainment who have expressed interest in hiring him again, though he emphasized that nothing substantial has been finalized.
Spacey said he has not filed for bankruptcy, but he described his finances as difficult, saying the combination of legal costs, reduced income, and reputational damage has left him without a stable place to live. He added that his situation has forced him to remain flexible, moving frequently in order to meet potential employers or participate in short-term work.
Industry observers have noted that Spacey’s path back remains uncertain. While he has been acquitted in the major criminal cases against him, the public accusations and career fallout have continued to influence whether studios and producers are willing to cast him in significant roles. Some smaller projects and international events have welcomed his presence, but mainstream opportunities remain limited.
Spacey said he hopes ongoing conversations with producers and directors may lead to more consistent work. For now, he continues to travel, meet with industry contacts, and look for opportunities to rebuild his career while managing the personal and financial challenges that have followed him for nearly a decade.
