Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro has a memoir coming out next month titled *Where We Keep the Light: Stories from a Life of Service*. The book hits shelves on January 27, 2026, published by Harper, an imprint of HarperCollins. It covers his family life, his Jewish faith, his rise in Pennsylvania politics, and personal trials like the arson attack on the governor’s mansion earlier this year while his family slept inside after a Passover gathering.
Politicians often release books like this to share their stories on their own terms. Shapiro details lessons from knocking on doors and working to solve problems in communities. He also opens up about tough moments, including the time he was vetted as a potential running mate for Kamala Harris in 2024. That process ended with Harris picking Tim Walz instead, and she later wrote about tensions in her own book, prompting Shapiro to call some of her claims inaccurate.
Shapiro plans a book tour starting in Philadelphia, then heading to New York and Washington, D.C. These stops will give him chances to speak directly to audiences in key spots. Election efforts under his watch drew scrutiny too. Alex Soros once publicly thanked Shapiro for work to “enhance access to the ballot,” a phrase that raises eyebrows among those wary of outside money influencing voting rules.
