Rep. Anna Paulina Luna, R-Fla., announced that she is going to gin up support for a “inherent contempt” resolution against Attorney General Merrick Garland after the House passes a resolution to hold him in contempt.
“As of right now, we fully intend to bring it,” Luna said, according to Fox News. “I don’t really have much faith in the Department of Justice. And I don’t think the American people do either. But we are trying to bring back a level playing field and show that, you know, there should be accountability all the way up to the top.”
According to official House rules on a document from the U.S. Government Publishing Office , “under the inherent contempt power of the House, the recalcitrant witness may be arrested and brought to trial before the bar of the House, with the offender facing possible incarceration.”
