Surveillance cameras captured the desecration, showing two individuals tearing off the heads of the characters before fleeing the scene. While the town hall has replaced the figures and launched an investigation, the attack is a chilling reminder of what has become of Christmas in Europe. Nativity scenes are no longer symbols of joy and hope – they are now targets.
This is not an isolated event. Across France and much of Western Europe, acts of violence and hatred against Christian traditions have become an annual ritual of their own.
