Boeing on Friday announced that its Defense, Space & Security President and CEO Ted Colbert will be leaving the company after 15 years, following a tumultuous year for the aerospace company.
The company has faced serious pressure recently after multiple security issues impacted its vehicles. In January, a door plug blew out of one of Boeing’s 737 Max 9 aircraft at around 15,000 feet in the air, and a Boeing Starliner spacecraft faced serious problems during its first crewed launch that left two astronauts stranded on the International Space Station.
Boeing CEO Kelly Ortberg thanked Colbert for his dedication to the company over the past decade and a half, and told employees that Steve Parker will oversee the division until a permanent successor is selected, ABC News reported.
