Boar’s Head has issued another recall of cheese products after a supplier notified the company of potential Listeria monocytogenes contamination, according to a notice released this week.
The products involved include certain lots of Boar’s Head Grated Pecorino Romano Cheese and other related cheese items produced by Ambriola Company, the supplier identified as the source of the issue. The recall affects multiple sell-by dates extending into 2026. According to the recall announcement, the products were distributed to retailers in several states before the potential contamination was discovered.
Ambriola Company reported the concern after routine sampling indicated possible listeria presence. Boar’s Head stated that it acted immediately once informed of the findings. At this time, no illnesses connected to the recalled products have been reported.
Listeria monocytogenes is a bacterium that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections, particularly in older adults, pregnant women, newborns, and individuals with weakened immune systems. Healthy individuals may experience short-term symptoms such as fever, headache, nausea, and diarrhea.
Customers who purchased the affected products are advised to discard them or return them to the place of purchase for a refund. Retailers have been instructed to remove the recalled items from store shelves.
The recall comes roughly a year after Boar’s Head faced a major listeria outbreak linked to deli meats, which resulted in multiple illnesses and deaths nationwide. While the current recall is smaller in scope and limited to cheese products produced by a supplier, the company says it is conducting a full review to ensure no additional products were affected.
